Past Presidents Assembly (PPA)

Every two years, the National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC) awards a total of $92,000 in prizes and two years of performance bookings to winners of the most prestigious awards they offer – the Young Artist Auditions and the Ellis Competition for Duo Pianists.  Talented young adults come together from all over the United States to compete in the areas of piano, men’s voice, women’s voice, strings, and piano duo.

The Past Presidents Assembly (PPA) was established by the NFMC in 1923 to provide funds to support these two prestigious competitions.  I am asking every Senior Club in the VFMC to help in this endeavor.  Many clubs have been contributing to this for years; I’m sure they will continue to do so.  I urge those who have forgotten over the past couple years to begin again.  Those who have not done so in the past, please consider supporting the NFMC in this way.

 REQUIREMENTS

 1.  Determine ELIGIBILITY.  Your Senior Club is eligible only if you have 2 or more past presidents in good standing to form a Past Presidents Assembly Chapter.  (A past president in good standing is one who continues membership in your club.)

2.  Obtain a CHARTER.  Charters are issued by the National PPA Chair for a charge of two dollars. To access the form FI 9-1 click on the link below or go to NFMC website (publications/ Finance Division/ Past Presidents Assembly/ press download PDF located on line FI 9-3.  Fill out the form and submit it along with a $2 check made payable to the National Federation of Music Clubs as indicated at the bottom of the form.  You will receive a charter number back for your club.  SUGGESTION:  Please get the charter now so that you can submit your PPA Report and Dues before the deadline date of April 1.

3.  Submit REPORT & DUES.  Each Senior Club admitted to the PPA submits an annual report (FI 9-3) and pays annual dues at the rate of $2 per past president in good standing.  (For each $2 dues, the State Treasurer forwards $1 to the NFMC and retains $1 for the State.)  Clubs may choose to make additional contributions to the NFMC Young Artist fund. The report form FI 9-3 can be found by clicking on the link below, on the NFMC website, or on the home page of the VFMC website.  Submit the completed form and check for dues and contributions to me (payable to VFMC), and I will forward them on to the VFMC Treasurer.  *Refer to the Senior Club Report Chart for complete instructions.  On the VFMC website go to Member Info then click Senior Club Reports (NFMC).  Finally click on the green link entitled “Senior Club Report Chart”.
